![]() ![]() PATH OF EXILE CROSSPLAY MACIt’s a bummer! But at the very least, Windows and Mac users can play with each other, in case you were curious.ĭoes Path of Exile Have Cross Save Support? ![]() In a tweet from 2018, the developer responded to a player that “different console platforms play on their own separate servers,” which might hint at the reason why. This may be due to a variety of reasons, aside from the fact that it’s not as simple as toggling a crossplay switch for the feature to magically appear in each versin of the game. This is a shame considering the frantic dungeon crawler is available on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox, which would make for the perfect opportunity to implement this. Developer Grinding Gear Games has no plans to add cross platform play to PoE at the moment. Does Path of Exile Have Crossplay Support? This guide covers everything we know about crossplay and cross save for Path of Exile. Tearing enemies to pieces with floating poisonous blades and annihilating demi-gods are activities best enjoyed in group, but depending on the situation, not all of your friends may be on the same platform. The thrill of encountering other players to play or trade with is ever present and for good reason. If MS and Sony would allow game devs to have complete control over their own games, you wouldn't have this issue in the many, many games were it surfaces.Path of Exile offers plenty of opportunities to see the story through on your own, but it’s a multiplayer experience by nature. ![]() It sucks that we can't have cross-platform in POE, but. PATH OF EXILE CROSSPLAY PCKeeping consoles separate from PC players allows GGG to rapidly deploy patches as soon as they're finished on PC without preventing console players from playing the game in the meantime, and allows console players to receive regular updates consisting of multiple PC micro-patches without PC players being told "yes we have a fix to the problem you keep having, but we can't let you have it until Microsoft and Sony verify the content." And I would hope it's obvious that you can't have people playing concurrently within the same league on different versions of the game. PATH OF EXILE CROSSPLAY PATCHNow, imagine that situation repeated for every single patch and hotfix over the course of a 3-month league. Imagine how angry console players would be if they couldn't play on launch weekend because their console didn't have access to a 1 MB patch they needed. So if you have cross-platform between PC and XBox, you would end up with a situation where console players aren't allowed to log in for several hours (it used to take a few days, but I think the process is faster now for live service games like POE) because console players don't have the current patch version and are getting rejected by the GGG servers. On console versions of the game, GGG has to submit the hotfix to Microsoft/Sony/Whoever, get it approved, hope it gets distributed quickly, etc. On PC, GGG has absolute control over their realms and the patch state, so they can drop a hotfix within minutes of the bug being found and all is well. What I'm talking about: let's say a league starts, and there's a game-breaking bug that causes players to hard crash to their desktop every single time they link Spell Echo to Fireball. I think this was the original plan, and maybe it still is the eventual hope, but modern consoles have an approval process for patches and updates which just make it unrealistic. ![]()
